In the festive calendar of Chicago there is a place for one of the most famous music festivals in the whole world – we are talking about Lollapalooza, which first began to be held in Chicago, later gathering a “family” of brothers in other cities (for example, in Buenos Aires, Paris, Berlin).
Specifically, in Chicago, the dates fall at the beginning of August, when the attention of all music lovers is riveted to it, since the festival can rightfully be called the “Oscar” of musical show business. The venue has long been the huge Grant Park, which is located near Monroe Harbor and is a great place not only for listening to music, but also for camping with a picnic.
Lollapalooza, a fest that celebrates alternative and underground music in all its diversity, is held at five open-air venues in the green zone, so everyone can choose their favorite music. Metallica, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails have already been among its headliners – however, the name Nirvana could have been among them, but the band members refused. The day after the official refusal, Kurt Cobain was found dead in Seattle. It is worth noting that until 1991 the festival was not popular – and it owes such demand to the Jane’s Addiction group, which decided to gather all the friends at the festival as a farewell tour – and as a result, we got a bright cocktail of “celebrities” who replaced one another . Then the organizers immediately understood in what format they would like to hold the fest.
